The vision of Van Jones and the Green For All Initiative is lovely. It focuses on bright futures, bright for the United States as we embrace the positive economic impact by using solar energy and bright because programs such as Solar Richmond help bring the long-term goal of color-blind economic opportunity which Dr. King helped foment to fruition.

One of the success stories which Green For All helps showcase is Solar Richmond, in California, a shining example for all of North America and a template for success among Alameda County photovoltaic projects. I have every confidence that Martin Luther King would be very proud of the accomplishments of Solar Richmond. Solar Richmond truly is the type of success story which an energy-starved and global warming-stricken nation and planet need to see. I commend the group’s first video to your attention. It speaks for itself.

The idea is simple: create jobs and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels at the same time. While about a decade behind vanguard nations such as Germany, Alameda County photovoltaic projects, lead much of the United States in proving the positive economic impact by using solar energy and help empower depressed areas at the same time. That is fully in keeping with the vision of Martin Luther King. Van Jones, his allies in the Green For All initiative and the good folks at the Solar Richmond program all deserve a standing ovation.
